Last season, Sunderland’s Timothée Pembele was on loan at Le Havre and played 21 matches.
Since returning to the Stadium of Light, Régis Le Bris has left the defender out of his plans. To put it in context, the 23-year-old hasn’t featured this season for Sunderland’s senior team.
That situation doesn’t look like it’s going to see a huge change, and therefore a fresh exit is on the cards.
On Monday, Le Havre manager Didier Digard talked about bringing the Sunderland player back to the club in the winter market. He was hopeful his side could find a solution with the Black Cats.
The Ligue 1 club want to please their manager, and look set to do so. That’s according to L’Equipe, who report Le Havre will again sign the centre-back in January.
According to the French newspaper, Le Havre will sign Pembele on loan without a purchase option or obligation. They aim to finalise his signing in the ‘coming hours’.
Paris-Normandy, a newspaper local to Le Havre, also cover efforts to bring the Black Cats man back to the club.
They state Le Havre have reached an agreement with Sunderland for Pembele’s loan transfer. The move will help the Frenchman enjoy regular minutes that wasn’t available under Le Bris.
