Earlier in the season, the Spanish media regularly covered Sevilla’s interest in Leicester City’s Boubakary Soumaré. He spent the 2023/24 season on loan at the Andalusian club, who have been keen on bringing him back.
The defensive midfielder has made 16 appearances in the Championship this season. The Foxes have parted ways with Martí Cifuentes at the weekend. He left Soumaré out of the squad for over a month before recalling him on January 17th.
Earlier this month, we covered claims from Italy of Torino’s interest in the Leicester City player. Tuttosport also reported he wants to leave in the winter market and has informed the same to the English club.
Torino, Sevilla and other European clubs [if any] will miss out on the Frenchman. That’s what RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins is reporting. He took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share a short but an important update.
According to him, the 26-year-old is on his way to join Al-Duhail SC. The journalist claims the Qatari club have reached an agreement with all parties, meaning Leicester City and the player.
Leicester City position allows transfer to happen
RMC Sport have relayed the same information on their website. Both updates make no mention of the fee the Foxes will earn from his sale. There are also no details of the deal offered by Al-Duhail SC to Soumaré.
The player is in his final six months of contract at the King Power Stadium. Therefore, the Foxes are not in a commanding position to demand a hefty fee.
With an agreement in place, Soumaré could soon travel to the Middle East to carry out the medical tests. If there are no setbacks, he can then sign the contract with Al-Duhail SC. This should take place soon once the two clubs sort out the last details of the agreement.
