Reports from Belgium today claim that KRC Genk are moving forward to sign Oh Hyeon-gyu from Celtic.
According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the player has already agreed personal terms with the club, willing to sign a long-term contract with them.
Genk are now in talks with Celtic regarding the transfer fee. It’s claimed that they’d like to close the deal for €5m plus performance bonuses, and it remains to be seen whether the Scottish side will take it.
The Belgian club have a good reason to agree the deal soon, as Oh’s arrival will result in some departures, and Andi Zeqiri may be on his way to Spain.
The striker made 26 appearances for Celtic this season, scoring five goals, but ended up being left out of many games in the past few months, making it clear that his future at the club was in doubt.
So despite having a long contract running until 2028, it shall be no surprise if he ends up moving away from Brendan Rodgers’ side this summer.
He’s currently valued by Transfermarkt at €1.8m.
