Wolverhampton Wanderers have identified KRC Genk’s Tolu Arokodare as a target late in this window.

Two days ago, Het Laatste Nieuws reported that the Premier League side are aware it’ll cost them €25m to sign the striker.

Today’s edition of Het Belang van Limburg reports Friday is key for Wolves in their efforts to secure the 24-year-old’s services.

It’s claimed the operation to take the player from Genk to Molineux is ‘expected to gain momentum’ today.

A fresh report from HLN covers the latest on Wolves’ pursuit of the Nigeria international.

On Thursday, the frontman was left out of the squad in their 2-1 defeat to Lech Poznan in the Europa League qualifiers. They still progressed to the group stages, thanks to a 5-1 win in the first leg.

Arokodare’s omission is because Wolves want to sign him before Monday’s deadline. HLN say he reported to the club on Thursday morning but knew he wouldn’t be involved against the Polish club.

That’s because the report explains an ‘agreement is close’ for Arokodare to join Wolves.

There’s been uncertainty around Wolves striker Jørgen Strand Larsen’s future. HLN insist Vítor Pereira’s side are not signing Arokodare to replace the Norwegian, but to compliment him.

Genk manager Thorsten Fink confirms the Wolves target was left out yesterday because of the ongoing transfer negotiations.

“Negotiations are underway. A club is interested. It was too much of a risk for both parties to play,” he said, as quoted by HLN.

“We work with players who I know can give it their all, not with guys who might be preoccupied. It was better for everyone to leave Tolu out of the starting lineup.”
