Despite the transfer window in England being shut, Southampton remain in negotiations for some exits to teams in countries still capable of signing and registering players.
Belgium is one such country, and that’s why Standard Liège are now very close to signing Moussa Djenepo.
This comes from Sacha Tavolieri, who took to Twitter to reveal the news that the Southampton winger will be leaving St Mary’s permanently.
He claims the 25-year-old, who has yet to feature for the club this season in the Championship, will return to his former club very soon, 4 years after being signed by the Saints for €15.7m.
Southampton are making a considerable loss on him, as the fee is expected to be of €3.5m after an ‘agreement was found’, and he will be signing a three-year deal in Belgium.
In fact, it’s so close that a medical has been booked for Tuesday, with the player, who was already in Paris, now on his way to Liège ahead of his exit from Southampton being finalised.
During his time with Southampton, the winger has made 91 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals and picking up five assists.
