Eintracht Frankfurt have ‘made progress’ on a deal for Leeds United defender Robin Koch and have ‘there is an agreement’ in place with the player.
That’s according to Frankfurter Rundschau, who say the Leeds man is the German side’s ‘desired player’ to improve their defence this summer.
The newspaper reports that there is an agreement in place with Koch to return to the Bundesliga from Elland Road, with the club believing that he fits the required profile perfectly.
They’ve therefore pushed to get a transfer over the line as quickly as possible and have made progress on that front, striking a deal with the defender, who will become a leading player at the club next season.
Contrary to initial reports, it’s stated Koch will not be leaving Leeds on a free transfer but instead will be allowed to depart on loan and then leave Elland Road on a free next summer when his contract comes to an end.
The plan is for Frankfurt to sign him on a one-year loan deal, for which Frankfurter Rundschau say they would have to pay a loan fee, and then turn that into a permanent deal in a year’s time.
The nature of the loan fee isn’t mentioned, and Leeds will surely push for as much as possible to mitigate their losses.
With a deal in place with Koch, though, that’s all Eintracht Frankfurt need to sort before they can get this deal over the line and sign their ‘desired player’ early in the window.
