Earlier this week, Secolo XIX reported Rangers are still very much a candidate to sign Genoa’s Emil Bohinen.
This came right after Quotidiano Sportivo had offered a twist in the saga, claiming that Spezia were making major progress to sign the midfielder. It came out of nowhere as Danny Röhl’s side were initially viewed as frontrunners.
Rangers have now been pushed down again in the race for the Norwegian.
Today’s Secolo XIX – via Spezia1906, report Bohinen’s entourage will make a final decision about a transfer on Monday.
Spezia are confident that the player is leaning towards them rather than Rangers, and will join this month. Even if he is currently on loan at Venezia, he is expected to return to Genoa and then be loaned out again.
La Nazione are also confident Bohinen will pick Spezia and return to Serie B.
This should rule Rangers out of the race, unless the player’s new agents have more tricks up their sleeve. They are likely behind the contradictory information that has been fed to the press in the last ten days.
Choosing Spezia over Rangers doesn’t make a great deal of sense, unless Bohinen is attracted by the local beaches. Spezia average less than 10k a game, and are towards the bottom of Serie B.
Rangers average almost 50k at Ibrox, and are in a title fight.
