The Brazilian media brings today interesting updates on Leeds United’s effort to sign Arthur Cabral from Basel.

According to UOL, the striker’s agents are flying in so they can close a deal with Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

It’s said one of his representatives, Luiz Portela, is travelling to Lisbon and will land in the Portuguese capital on Tuesday morning, while the other, Paulo Pitombeira, is meeting him there.

The agents’ plan is to finally complete the transfer, even though Leeds United and Basel still need to agree the transfer fee.

UOL reports that Leeds are initially offering €18m, which would be €15m up front and other €3m in performance bonuses. However, Basel are pushing for €20m, which is the amount of his release clause.

It’s said that besides’ the agents’ will to close a deal, Arthur Cabral is keen on playing in the Premier League as well.

The website doesn’t make it clear why the meeting is being held in Lisbon, but it probably has to do with the better situation of Coronavirus in Portugal.
