In the past few days, we’ve been seeing countless updates on the future of Chelsea youngster Andrey Santos.
Despite the advanced talks for his loan to Palmeiras, it’s now known that his former club Vasco da Gama are also trying to sign him.
The Rio de Janeiro club reportedly have a preference agreed from when they sold Andrey to Chelsea, and now try to convince the player to return home.
But Palmeiras continue in the lead, with Vasco struggling to convince, and this situation is now commented on by Extra columnist Gilmar Ferreira.
The journalist blames Andrey’s agents for the negotiations, claiming the player should be returning to his former club instead of negotiating with someone else.
“It’s easy to see the influence of young midfielder Andrey’s agents in this story of the probable stopover at Palmeiras before playing for millionaire Chelsea,” says Gilmar Ferreira.
“A kick in the idolatry of the boy raised in São Januário, who left Vasco even before defending them in a game for the Serie A.
“Cruzmaltino fans are disappointed with the boy, but I doubt that the manoeuvre crossed his mind.
“I believe that the player’s will would keep him in São Januário, he would play in the U-20 World Cup for the national team, until he could join the Chelsea squad.”
Andrey Santos could not get his work permit for the Premier League, and that’s why Chelsea are loaning him out. Palmeiras’ advantage is mostly because they’re playing in the Copa Libertadores, and that competition helps him get the necessary points to get the visa.
The Blues are reportedly negotiating for a loan until the end of the year, but in case the permit is granted before that, he could move to London in the summer.
