Arsenal fans will remember the summer of 2021, when Manuel Locatelli was still at Sassuolo and at the heart of a battle between the Gunners and Juventus.
Much like the Dusan Vlahovic, the Italian eventually chose to stay in Italy and move to Turin, but unlike the Serbian, Mikel Arteta hasn’t moved on.
We know this because stories about Locatelli being of interest to Arsenal continue to circulate, with claims in October that the Gunners had made early contact about a potential January move.
Now, at the time, it was said that a good offer from any club would be considered, but the player’s agent sees it very differently when asked about a potential move away from Juventus for his client.
He said to Tuttosport: “It is true that there were some good opportunities from England last summer, but the player is contracted to Juventus and he has never thought of leaving.”
That appears to suggest he didn’t want to leave last summer and isn’t exactly planning on doing so going to January.
Whether he could be convinced otherwise by Arsenal remains to be seen, but considering he has been a regular starter under Max Allegri this season in Turin, it seems unlikely he will want to leave that to fight for a space in a very in-form Gunners team.
We’ll have to wait and see, but it could be the agent is telling the truth, at least until the summer.
