Earlier this week, we covered claims from Argentine discussing Chelsea’s interest in River Plate’s Ian Subiabre. It was also stated the representative is scheduled to have a meeting with the Blues in the coming days.
Former Argentina international Claudio Caniggia became his agent a few weeks ago. The representative has travelled to London to hold talks with Chelsea about his client’s possible move to England.
That’s according to Soy del Millo, and they provide the latest on Chelsea’s interest in the 18-year-old.
The forward has made only a handful of appearances for River Plate’s first team but has impressed for Argentina at the 2025 South American U20 Championship in Venezuela.
River Plate have no plans to part ways with the youngster and Chelsea’s interest leads to concern over losing him.
Soy del Millo also relay an update from journalist Gustavo Yarroch about the west London club’s interest in Subiabre.
He states Chelsea are keen, but the transfer negotiations are still in the early stages. Yarroch also provided an update on River Plate’s stance on sanctioning a move for Subiabre.
“The interest is there, but speaking of a possible transfer, this is absolutely in its infancy,” he said.
“There remains a very long stretch for the operation to be completed. River today are not interested in selling him and, if necessary, the leaders [have] set the termination clause of €30m.”
Chelsea have sufficient time to convince River Plate to soften the stance in the summer window.
