On Monday morning, we covered strong claims from the Portuguese media claiming Manchester United are keen on FC Porto starlet Evanilson.
It was said that the Red Devils had already seen an offer refused by the Dragons, and were expected to return with more money for the transfer.
It turns out, however, that Brighton & Hove Albion are involved in the scenario as well. And the Seagulls’ interest was confirmed by Evanilson’s own agent.
Representative Marcio Barros had today spoken with Portuguese outlet Zero Zero. There he did not confirm approaches from Manchester United or even Wolverhampton Wanderers, and ended up talking about the chase from Graham Potter’s side.
“To those responsible for managing Evanilson’s career, no official proposal has arrived, only polls from England,” Barros told Zero Zero.
“There was an approach from Brighton. If a formal proposal arrives, we will analyse the best for the player.”
According to Zero Zero, Porto set Evanilson’s price at €80m.
They write it’s agent Jorge Mendes who’s handling the situation, and the issue should have ‘developments in the coming days’.
Porto only spent €10m to sign the striker from Fluminense in 2020. This season for the Dragons, he scored 21 goals in 46 appearances, and was of big help to their title-winning campaign.
