Tottenham Hotspur have enjoyed an impressive run this season under Ange Postecoglou and are currently leading the league table.
Destiny Udogie has been one of the standout players for Spurs after he arrived at the club in the summer, a year after they agreed a deal with Udinese for the transfer. Operating as a left-back, he has managed two assists from eight games this season.
TuttoMercatoWeb spoke to the player’s agent, Ferdinando Guarino, and he expressed his delight over the 20-year-old’s start to his Tottenham career.
The representative has revealed there was a clear plan for his client and that has helped him quickly adapt at the north London club.
“From the beginning of the year there had been clear ideas. He can play both in a back four or a wing-back and this was an added value. He expressed himself at very high levels. Today Tottenham has a truly important overall value from a technical and financial point of view,” he said.
Udogie was a product of Hellas Verona’s youth system and spent time with their first team before joining Udinese in 2021. Although he’s been at Tottenham for only a few months, TMW asked the agent if they are planning his return to Italy.
“He’s fine, he feels great in England. The Premier League is total football and he adapts very well to this type of championship,” Guarino explained.
The fullback’s form for Tottenham has helped him earn his first call-up from Italy’s senior team for this month’s international break, and Guarino has admitted it has long been his dream.
“Reaching the national team was the achievement of a great goal. He is at the coach’s total disposal. An emotion. It was a goal for the boy, we always believed in it. So with work, step by step this great joy came,” he added.
