The agent of Sheffield Wednesday defender Marnick Vermijl has confirmed his client could leave the Championship side this summer.
Speaking to Voetbal Nieuws, Nico Vaesen revealed the former Manchester United youth player will certainly be staying in England whether it be with Sheffield Wednesday or another English side.
Vaaesen said they wouldn’t return to Belgium unless a major club came in for the 24-year-old, and that there has been concrete interest in the full back from clubs in England.
“He remains almost certainly in England that is certain? Sheffield or another club. Belgium is not an option, Marnick is very happy with his girlfriend in England, Belgium is only an option if a club from the top five come in for him, then we will always listen. He has two years left on his contract with Sheffield and the English interest in him is more concrete than those from Belgium,” said the player’s agent.
Vermijl joined Sheffield Wednesday from Manchester United in 2015, but never managed to hold down a regular place in the team. The Belgian spent last season on loan with PNE, where he got plenty of playing time.
