Over the last few days, and probably weeks, we’ve been reporting Watford’s interest in signing Juventus’ Roberto Pereyra.
Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport claimed Watford are prepared to offer €16m for the Argentine, and Walter Mazzarri is keen on signing the player.
Pereyra’s agent, Claudio Vagheggi, has been speaking to Italian website Calciomercato, and was asked about the rumours of a medical being scheduled for today.
He said: “At the moment I have no information on a medical being booked, but I can say that’s not true.”
Vagheggi confirmed both the clubs are negotiating, and that it’s ‘going well’.
“There are negotiations in progress between the two clubs, who are working well. There is a basic deal, but in football you can never say until the signatures have been put on the paperwork. The two clubs are working to get the figures straight.
“I think the next 48 hours can be important, yes.”
Vagheggi also confirmed Pereyra wouldn’t turn down the chance to sign for a Premier League club, despite being happy at Juventus.
“Roberto is happy at Juventus. He wouldn’t turn down the Premier League, so we await the next few days with confidence.”
