Two days ago, Manchester City completed the signing of Jérémy Doku from Rennes and he signed a five-year deal at the Etihad.
The winger parted ways with his old agent a year ago and his brother, Jefferson, along with a legal advisor from Belgium, negotiated his transfer to Manchester City.
This was revealed by the 21-year-old’s current agent during an interview with Gazet van Antwerpen.
Jefferson claims the treble winners first made contract at the start of this month. He adds it was a “long wait” for Manchester City to reach an agreement with the Ligue 1 side.
The newspaper says the Belgium international’s father David, mother Belinda and sisters Precious and Chelsea, along with Jefferson, were alongside Jérémy when he completed a move to Manchester City.
The agent claims his client chatted with both Pep Guardiola’s side and compatriot Kevin De Bruyne before agreeing to join Manchester City.
“A wonderful moment. We are all very proud of him. Our youngest sister may be called Chelsea, but Manchester City really was the absolute dream destination for Jérémy,” Jefferson explained.
“This club won everything last year, didn’t it? You can’t say no to that, can you? Jérémy had already spoken with Pep Guardiola and Kevin De Bruyne before completing his transfer. They also played a major role in his choice for City.”
Jérémy is set to become Riyad Mahrez’s successor at Manchester City after the Algerian left the Etihad for Al-Ahli last month.
The Belgian could be in contention to make his debut when Guardiola’s side face Sheffield United on Sunday.
