The agent of Genoa star Diego Laxalt has told the Italian media Chelsea are interested in in his client. The Uruguayan has been linked with Serie A clubs in recent weeks, and also Leicester City, who were tracking the midfielder in the summer.

Speaking to Calciomercato, Vincenzo D’Ippolito was asked about the future of Laxalt, and the interest from other clubs, including Chelsea. D’Ippolito confirmed Chelsea are one of those clubs keen on the 23-year-old, and that Antonio Conte knows the player well from his time in Italy.

The player’s agent said the Chelsea boss knows what a player like Laxalt could bring to his team, and therefore D’Ippolito could look to move his client to England.

“Chelsea? It is one of the clubs because Conte saw him in Italy, he knows his qualities and I would like to take him to England,” said the player’s agent.

During the last transfer window we covered similar comments D’Ippolito made in which he revealed Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester City were tracking Laxalt, and were considering moving in for the South American.

Despite being linked with Leicester City an offer didn’t come in from the Premier League champions, and subsequently he remained at Genoa.
