Italian agent Roberto De Fanti is one of many in Italy who have contracted Covid-19. He’s now recovering and considers himself very fortunate to be in that situation, and it’s also changed his outlook on life generally.

Quoted by TWW, De Fanti said: “It was a bad time but now I’m recovering. And I always try to take the positive side: now I see things with a different light, I have rearranged my priorities that I will implement once I return to normal life.”

That’s a sentiment many people are hoping they can take into the world post-Covid-19.

But still, there’s business to be done in the medium term, and for De Fanti that includes the renewal of Japhet Tanganga at Tottenham Hotspur.

The 21 year old’s current deal is set to expire next year, although it’s not thought that a transfer is necessarily on the cards, and De Fanti seemed to back up that idea.

Specifically speaking about the youngster’s contract situation with Spurs, he explained: “We were in talks with Tottenham for renewal but this crisis obviously slowed everything down. When it ends we will resume the interrupted speech. We hope that on his return he will also be called into the national team, given that it is rumoured that he was already in Southgate’s thoughts despite his very young age.”

Given the agent was presented the opportunity to talk up an exit or interest from elsewhere and didn’t, it’s a sure sign those talks were going reasonably well.
