Arriving as a last minute signing for Liverpool on transfer deadline day, Arthur Melo has yet to start a game for the Anfield side.
That’s because he certainly wasn’t fully fit, and it was reported that the player, instead of heading off on holiday during the international break, stayed with the Reds to get his fitness levels back up to scratch in order to knock on Jürgen Klopp’s door.
His lack of minutes led to stories claiming Liverpool could part ways with him early, but that was quickly dismissed by those around him, including his agent Federico Pastorello.
The man behind the transfer to Anfield was once again asked about his client by Calciomercato.it, where he reiterated his faith in the Brazilian midfielder.
He said: “Arthur played very little last year, he then had a scheduled surgery in June, thus skipping part of the preparation. He was not in Allegri’s plans, so he did not train with the rest of the team, therefore it is normal that arriving on the last day in these conditions, from his point of view he needed extra work.
“Now he has recovered and is at the complete disposal of the manager. I have no doubt that he will do very well with the Liverpool shirt.”
Liverpool do have an option to make the move permanent if they so wish, but that will entirely depend on Arthur himself, who will need to convince Klopp first and foremost.
Prior to his move to the Reds, the 26-year-old had played for Grêmio, Barcelona and Juventus, making 63 appearances for the latter, scoring one goal and picking ip one assist.
