Italian outlet Europa Calcio today features an interview with the agent of Brazilian wonderkid Gabriel Veron.

The 18-year-old, who’s been standing out for Palmeiras, has been linked to a few European sides in the past few months, with Manchester United often named in those stories.

So when speaking to representative Lupercio Segundo, the outlet didn’t mind making a direct question regarding the Red Devils. They’ve quizzed him if the United interest is real, and if there are Italian clubs going after the teenager as well.

“These are situations that I cannot anticipate. There are talks with some clubs and the proposals are expected to become official,” Lupercio Segundo told Europa Calcio.

Despite Segundo’s evasive answer, Europa Calcio brings a headline saying “Gabriel Veron’s agent: “Manchester United? We await official proposals”, which may sound a little misleading.

The representative also talked about Veron’s potential and the rise in his market value following the Copa Libertadores title last month.

“I believe that the proposals in the next market window will be inevitable. Palmeiras has a well-defined plan for Gabriel and we will follow it. European football? Gabriel Veron is a great player, I have no doubts about that. Despite his young age, he’s a mature athlete, who’s always proved to be decisive, he has many qualities and characteristics that are indispensable for today’s football.”

Even though it’s the Brazilian media who normally reports the European interest in local talents, things have been different with Gabriel Veron. It’s the Italian and Spanish media who started claiming that Premier League sides are chasing the winger, while reports from Brazil are only covering the news.

Now with his agent speaking to the Italian media, we wonder why there’s still nothing in the youngster’s home country regarding his future.
