Let us remind you of something that might shock you, but Chelsea have a third goalkeeper, and his name is Marco Amelia.
We know, this might come as a surprise, but the Italian shot stopper isn’t exactly thrilled at his current situation at Stamford Bridge, and talk of a move has been thrown about a bit.
One team in Italy allegedly interested happens to be Livorno, who finished 20th in Serie B last season and will be playing in Italy’s third division (Lega Pro) for 2016-17.
However, according to his agent, contacted by TuttoMercatoWeb, there is no planned transfer yet for the 34-year-old.
He said: “Marco was contracted by the Tuscan club, but other teams have probed around for him as well. For now, all there is is the fact we must wait for Chelsea and see what the team choices are. At present, any kind of talk is premature.”
Unsurprisingly, the Italian goalkeeper did not make a single appearance for Chelsea, with both José Mourinho and Guus Hiddink preferring to rely on Thibaut Courtois and Asmir Begovic instead.
Over the course of his career, Marco Amelia has made 236 Serie A appearances, conceding 343 goals and keeping just 67 clean sheets.
