Making it clear he wants to leave AS Roma, Nicolo Zaniolo has become one of the late attractions of the January transfer window, which has led Everton to move for him.

That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who recall how the Italy international, despite wanting to leave, turned down AFC Bournemouth, because there appears to be a limit to his desperation.

The prospect of moving to Tottenham has disappeared, as has the one with Milan, but his agent is working hard, with the newspaper stating that Claudio Vigorelli, his agent, ‘brought four new offers’ to Roma’s transfer table, including one from Everton.

The other three were from Leeds, Southampton and RB Leipzig, but there is one problem, and that’s the fact they are all loans with the option to buy, with some having obligations ‘on not simple conditions’.

It’s not said what those conditions were, but we can imagine Everton’s and Southampton’s, for example, being linked with avoiding relegation from the Premier League, which is by no means a guarantee at this stage.

Either way, Roma did not take any of those ‘into consideration’, as they want the money for Zaniolo guaranteed one way or another, meaning the Toffees will have to create something new if they want to lure the Italy international to Merseyside.
