Reports that Bournemouth have completed a deal for LDU Quito’s Oscar Zambrano are wide of the mark and they are yet to make an official bid for him.
That’s according to his agent Mauricio Machado, who has pushed back on claims yesterday that a deal had been done.
A report yesterday indicated that Bournemouth were close to securing Zambrano’s signature in a £5m deal, having leapt ahead of the competition to get the highly rated youngster.
That report came from comments reportedly made by Diego Castro, manager of the Albos Football Commission, who revealed behind the scenes to journalists that negotiations with Bournemouth over the player had been finalised.
Indeed, the Spanish coach was even asked about the possible signing last week but refused to confirm or deny anything, instead insisting that he was simply a talented youngster who fit the model being employed at Bournemouth.
It seems he was cautious about any move and now his agent has insisted nothing is going on, or close to being finalised as has been suggested elsewhere.
“Mr. Esteban (Paz) says that he has an offer from Bournemouth in England,” he told Ole.
“I found out and it is true that there is interest, but they never made a formal offer. I am permanently in contact with Dr. Isaac (Álvarez), president of the league, and his people, and they told me that there is no official offer for Oscar Zambrano.
“Here there is talk of an offer from Bournemouth that is not on the table, that does not exist. It even appeared in the media that he is sold, and that is not the case. This morning I spoke with Dr. Isaac and his people, so that is not the case.”
