Aston Villa’s Philippe Coutinho was restricted to less than 1000 minutes of action from 22 games last season.
The attacking midfielder wasn’t favoured by Unai Emery this year as hasn’t made an appearance for the Premier League side since February. It could force him to look for a new club next season, even though he has a deal until 2026.
Beşiktaş could be an option for him. That’s according to Fanatik, who state the Aston Villa player’s agent has ‘proposed’ him to the Turkish club.
It’s claimed the Black Eagles have started the negotiations over a potential deal for the Brazil international.
The 31-year-old’s wages at Aston Villa cannot be matched by Beşiktaş. Therefore, the report states their leaders have reduced his salary to €4.5m [likely net] per season during the last negotiations with his representatives.
Fanatik have made no mention of whether Beşiktaş are looking to take the ex-Liverpool star on a loan deal or permanent transfer.
Coutinho initially arrived at Aston Villa on loan in January 2022 and his stay there was made permanent later that year, when Steven Gerrard was in charge at the club.
