Leeds United took Raphinha from Rennes in 2020 and in his second term in England, the winger impressed for the Whites, scoring nine goals and registering three assists from 27 league matches.
In his debut campaign, the Brazil international had six goals and nine assists in the league and his performances caught Liverpool’s attention. Last October, the 25-year-old’s agent admitted the Reds ‘like him’ and had also made approaches for the player.
Fast forward to March and reports coming out of Spain today have stated the attacker is an ‘objective’ for Barcelona.
It’s claimed the South American has ‘aroused the interest’ of the Merseyside club, who tried to sign him last summer.
The player is managed by former Barcelona player, Deco, and the agent had put his client’s name on the table at the Camp Nou at the start of the season.
Sport say the representative has now informed the La Liga side that Raphinha will not sign a new contract at Elland Road and ‘would leave at the end of this season’. The report further adds the agent is ‘handling offers’ from Liverpool and Chelsea.
Raphinha’s contract has a €75m release clause and it will be reduced to €25m, should the club be relegated from the Premier League.
