Chelsea don’t have the ability to invest in Napoli striker Victor Osimhen this summer or moving forwards.
That’s according to agent Neil Barnett, who appears to have poured cold water all over the idea of Osimhen ending up at Stamford Bridge this year.
The Napoli striker has been long been linked with a move to Chelsea, with a number of reports indicating they would be his dream club because of his love for Didier Drogba when he was younger.
The idea of a move taking place this summer has been building for months, with it clear that he will be leaving Napoli and them planning for a major sale.
Chelsea’s need for an elite level striker has also pushed the idea closer too, with it even suggested that the two clubs could work out a deal involving Romelu Lukaku.
The Blues need to work out something with the Belgian striker this summer as he returns from a loan spell at Roma.
The suggestion has been that he could be sent to Napoli to reunite with Antonio Conte, who is set to take charge at the club at some point in the near future.
That deal would potentially involved Osimhen going the other way, but Barnett insists that simply isn’t feasible.
“Chelsea want to sell Lukaku, it will be a battle between Conte and Napoli and Mourinho with Fenerbahce,” he said.
“Chelsea also has to economise; these are no longer the times of the past and they don’t want players who are over 24 years old and as expensive as Osimhen.
“Leipzig’s Sesko is more in line with Chelsea’s new line. Chelsea know that they may have difficulty selling Lukaku and then it is possible that they could let him go on loan, but they would not want to pay too much of his salary.”
