The Italian media weren’t going to let the New Year arrive without getting in a quick Manolo Gabbiadini rumour.
Since the player left Napoli, frustrated at being on the bench too much, for Southampton there’s been endless claims of a potential return to Serie A.
There’s a few reasons for that. Firstly, in Italy they never really feel an Italian can be happy elsewhere so a return in always expected.
Secondly, he moved to the Saints to be a first choice striker and that hasn’t really been the case.
Thirdly, the player’s agent has spoken endlessly and said everything, including contradictions, possible on a potential transfer.
That agent, Silvio Pagliari, is said to have flown into England in recent hours, report Calciomercato, for a ‘confrontation’ with Southampton, which probably sounds more dramatic than it really is.
Talks will be held to determine Gabbiadini’s future, and AC Milan interest is once again referenced.
