On Friday morning, Italian newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport claimed that Nottingham Forest placed a bid for AS Roma defender Roger Ibanez.
It was stated the Reds put a €25m offer on the table, and that was actually close to the price demanded by the Giallorossi.
The story obviously made big noise in the Italian media, and Voce Giallorossa now brings quotes from the player’s agent.
Lodovico Spinosi was interviewed by TAG24, and according to him, there’s been no offer from Nottingham Forest yet.
“It’s just talk, there hasn’t been any offer to the footballer from the English club. I’ve heard rumours of an interest, but it hasn’t followed any concrete action at the moment.”
The representative even claimed that Ibanez does not wish to leave Roma this summer, even though there’s no guarantee he’s staying.
“Ibanez is doing very well at Roma and wants to stay, he feels valued by the coach and his teammates. He’s in love with the city and the fans, so he wants to continue playing with the Giallorossi shirt. He is totally concentrated on training and on giving the best for the team. Of course, if an offer comes to the club, we will listen to it.”
With Gazzetta being a major Italian outlet and claiming the deal could be done ‘quickly’, we better wait and see if the agent is bluffing about the whole situation.
Ibanez was linked to several Premier League clubs this summer, and none of them seem to have reached Roma’s valuation.
Even Transfermarkt has the player’s price at €25m, so the Giallorossi may not be exaggerating when playing hardball during the negotiations for his sale.
