Jorge Mendes is ‘desperate and very nervous’ about finding midfielder Isco a new club as Everton are yet to make their move for him.
Estadio Deportivo cover the Spaniard today as he continues to search for a new club after leaving Sevilla in the middle of January.
He’s yet to sign with anyone else, having been close to a move to Union Berlin before that collapsed at the last minute.
Several clubs have been linked with a potential move, including Everton, who failed to sign anyone during the January transfer window and could certainly do with a creative midfielder of his ilk.
They’re yet to make any serious move for him, though, and this is causing concern for the player and his entourage as they know their options are becoming limited and they are ‘in an extreme situation’.
Estadio explain that they are ‘starting to go crazy’ about the situation and Mendes in particular is ‘desperate and very nervous’ as he tries to find a new home for his client.
That’s because Isco’s options have ‘suddenly dried up’ and, after the Turkish market closed yesterday, another option has been taken off of the table for the time being.
At the moment there is only China, the MLS or teams like Everton, who have space in their squad. Indeed their ‘door was opened to him’ in the first few days of February.
The belief is that the 30-year-old should still have plenty of opportunities in front of him but between him rejecting some offers and others not coming forward, he has been left with ‘very few’.
That’s a problem as he and Mendes know that if he were to wait until the summer, which would mean six months without playing, could be a death knell for his career.
Thus Mendes is ‘starting to get desperate’ and his nerves are ‘starting to get the better of him’, perhaps presenting Everton with an opportunity to get Isco for a much more favourable price, if they are indeed interested.
