The agent for West Bromwich Albion midfielder Okay Yokuslu has stated he is more interested in staying in England than returning to Turkey.
Yokuslu is currently on loan at the Hawthorns, having been brought to the club by manager Sam Allardyce in the January transfer window.
The hope was that he could help the club avoid relegation, but that has not happened, and it now remains to be seen what will happen with his future.
West Brom don’t have a purchase clause agreed with his parent club Celta Vigo and, with them keen to move the Turkish midfielder on, there have been several reports about his future.
The Baggies would likely be keen to keep him given his performances since his arrival, although the chances of that happening after relegation to the Championship seem slim.
“Okay has made great success in England,” he told Transfermarkt.
“Clubs who want Okay have an agreement with Celta. The situation becomes clear in June.
“We certainly do not have the idea of returning to Turkey. Okay is more receptive to staying in England.”
While that’s not a clear statement of his intent to stay with West Brom, it certainly provides a little spark of hope.
The likelihood is that Yokuslu will try to secure himself a Premier League move, and there is sure to be interest in him given how well he’s played for the Baggies.
If not, West Brom will certainly be waiting to give him the return to England that he clearly wants.
