Manchester United and Juventus are keen on signing young Italian goalkeeper Alessandro Confente, according to his agent.
Confente plays for Serie A side Chievo Verona, and the 18-year-old has already been included in the first team squad several times this season, but hasn’t made an appearance yet.
Confente’s agent, Polo Dattola, has been speaking to Italian website Calciomercato, and has confirmed interest from Manchester United: “Not only Juventus and Manchester United, who are interested in him, but he is in the crosshairs of all the major clubs.”
Dattola added the Serie A side don’t want to sell Confente, and discussions will take place only in the summer: “But Chievo don’t want to sell him, and I am well aware of the fact that this team is perfect for his development. We’ll talk at the end of the season.”
Confente’s style is reportedly similar to Samir Handanovic, who the youngster grew up watching as a Inter fan, but it remains to be seen in there is enough interest from Manchester United to make a move.
The Italian goalkeeper recently signed a contract extension, keeping him at the Serie A club till 2020.
Manchester United have scouted Europe for young goalkeepers repeatedly in recent years so their interest wouldn’t be a surprise.
