Two days ago, Werder Bremen chief Frank Baumann confirmed his side’s interest in Manchester United’s Tahith Chong.
On August 6th, the winger’s agent admitted his client would be open to idea of playing in the Bundesliga, and will hold talks with the Red Devils on Thursday.
Erkan Alkan, the 20-year-old’s representative, has given another interview to Bild, admitting the player wants to join Werder Bremen.
“He wants to go to the Bundesliga and Bremen. He will tell that to Manchester United. The club’s plan convinced him,” Alkan said.
It’s claimed Chong is expected to hold talks Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Friday, when he will explain that he wants to leave the club and join the German side. The player believes his chances of featuring regularly next season are better with Werder Bremen than at United.
Werder Bremen would ‘favour a two-year loan deal’, without the inclusion of a purchase option.
Bild state Manchester United would assume part of the salary while allowing Chong go out on loan elsewhere.
The Netherlands U21 international came off the bench in United’s 2-1 Europa League win over LASK on Wednesday.
According to Bild, this could be his last appearance of the season and the Dutchman may not be available for selection for United’s Europa League quarter-final clash against FC Copenhagen on Monday.
