Brighton and Hove Albion remain interested in youngster Facundo Buonanotte, with his agent confirming as much.

Buonanotte was targeted by Brighton throughout the summer, and it was believed a deal would take place, with confidence from all parties than an agreement was in price.

However, a move was cancelled after fans at Rosario Central made it clear they were very much against the move happening.

Brighton have been brought back into the picture this week, though, with it reported they are back in the market and the player doesn’t know where he will be starting 2023.

The belief was that Brighton could return to try and sign him in the January transfer window, with the Seagulls continuing their drive to sign young talent from South America to develop for the first team.

It’s something they’ve done to great success in recent years with the likes of Moises Caicedo, Alexis MacAllister and Jeremy Sarmiento.

It’s likely they have a similar plan in mind for Buonanotte and his agent has confirmed they are still pursuing a possible deal.

“I think it’s a unique opportunity for the player and also for Central. So far, no better offer has appeared,” Roberto San Juan confirmed to Radio 2, relayed by Rosario 3.

“We are very happy with his current situation. We’ve had him for many years, and we believe that he doesn’t have to go through stages because he’s growing, and we have to take him step by step.

“He is very capable and intelligent from a footballing point of view. But as a representative I look for the best for my player. We have to make sure he grows financially, in sporting terms and personally.

“Brighton are the only candidate today. Our deal is closed, the only thing missing is for the clubs to agree. The figure is very good, and it suits Central very well.

“We have been dealing with this issue for two months and there was no other better offer, so that means a lot. We are looking for a project for the player to be able to develop him. If Brighton pull out, there is no other offer.”
