Elseid Hysaj’s agent has been speaking to Italian radio about the future of his client and a possible Napoli exit in the winter market.

The 25 year old fullback has a contract with Napoli until the end of June 2021, and his future looks far from secure.

With only three appearances so far this season, the player picked up another injury which ruled him out of last weekend’s match against Hellas Verona.

Agent Mario Giuffredi has been talking up a move for a while and this time included Chelsea as an interested party. Tutto Napoli quote him as saying: “It’s in the interest of everyone that the player moves in January as his contract expires and Napoli, who a year ago refused €50m from Chelsea, would risk losing him for nothing.”

Despite the contract having more than a year left to run, Giuffredi is trying to put the pressure on Napoli, and he’s now spoken several times this month about possible moves.

AS Roma have also been mentioned, and a stay in Italy may be likelier than a move to the Premier League.

In November of last year the agent said something different about the London club: “In the summer, he could have gone to Chelsea. Sarri would have liked him.

“He has a €50m clause, maybe Napoli would have even accepted €40-€45m. The negotiation has never taken off because De Laurentiis, to free Sarri, has imposed a clause that forbids Chelsea to take other players apart from Jorginho.”

Either Napoli refused to sell the player for perhaps €10m more than they would have normally accepted, and also ignored his clause being triggered, all because it was Chelsea who were interested, or this story doesn’t seem quite so convincing.
