Diego Gómez’s agent has confirmed that he’s held talks with Brighton and other Premier League teams about his client, but a transfer won’t be happening until after the Olympics.
Renato Bittar has today been speaking to Versus about his client, after reports that Brighton have started to push ahead with a potential move for him.
The Seagulls have been credited with an interest in the midfielder for several months, with reports making it clear that they could make a bid this summer.
The matter appeared to have gone cold for a short spell but was revived yesterday when a new report, supported by comments from Gómez himself, made it clear that Brighton were very much in the mix and looking to make a deal happen.
Gómez also admitting that he made the move to Inter Miami in order to try and get a later move to Europe also added fuel to the fire, and increased Brighton’s chances of getting him too.
It seem his agent wants to calm things down for now, though, insisting that there’s nothing advanced, when asked directly about Brighton’s efforts.
“With the performance he had in the pre-Olympics and in Miami, his transfer is always a possibility,” he said.
“He (Diego) is a desirable player, but at this moment he is 100% in the Olympic Games, to represent our country well, then we will see what we do with that, I just want to respect this moment and respect the national team.
“I don’t want to give so much time to this issue, if something comes out, let it be announced. If not, it will be in the medium to short-term.
“They (Inter Miami) are aware. We have been talking to them (Brighton) for a while.”
