Loaned from Barcelona for the second half of the season, Denis Suarez arrived at Arsenal with some hopes of getting the first-team football he was lacking at Barcelona.
Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened for him, and he’s currently been limited to six appearances, all from the bench, in all competitions.
The Spaniard arrived at the Emirates with an option to buy, but, as things stand, Arsenal paying Barcelona the required amount seems like a long shot at best.
That’s why it isn’t surprising to see his agent talking to the Italian radio and commenting on alleged interest from Napoli in Serie A.
Speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss, relayed by Calciomercato, Felix Guende said: “He has two years left at Barcelona. This year in England hasn’t been his best. He’s played little and hasn’t been able to find a rhythm. At the moment, he’s injured. He has muscle fatigue and an injury.
“We’re awaiting the results from the exams. Napoli? The interest is always appreciated, being a team that has been fighting for the top positions for years. It’s a bit soon to talk about the transfer window, but we aren’t excluding anything.”
To us, that doesn’t sound like Arsenal are considering extending Denis Suarez’s stay at the Emirates beyond this season, especially if he is sidelined due to injury, therefore unable to prove he’s worth the money.
Perhaps a move to Napoli might be best for the 25-year-old, whose decision to leave Villarreal back in 2016 in hope of making it at Barcelona has, sadly, backfired quite dramatically.
