Last week, AS stated Jorge Mendes has left the ‘door open’ for Wolverhampton Wanderers to sign Ansu Fati in the summer. It was also explained the player needs to be convinced for the deal to take shape since he’s refusing to leave Barcelona.
Monday’s Sport explains Wolves are the ‘best option’ for the winger to leave the Camp Nou in the summer.
The Blaugrana are working hard to comply with the feasibility plan proposed to La Liga and this will be done by lowering their wage bill and increasing their income through player sales. The 20-year-old is one of them who will have to be sold in the next window.
Mendes has a good relationship with Barca president Joan Laporta. The representative has ‘promised’ to place his client elsewhere and there are advanced options, especially in the Premier League.
The agent recently made a trip to Barcelona, specifically to hold talks with Fati and his family. Mendes already negotiated various options but the one he ‘absolutely prioritises’ is Julen Lopetegui’s side.
As part of the deal, Wolves star Rúben Neves, also managed by Mendes, would move in the opposite direction. It’s said the English club are the ‘best destination’ for Fati from an economic point of view for the La Liga side.
Fati’s sale would be valued at €80m, which is needed for them to balance their books. Out of that, €30m would be cash while the remaining €50m would be covered by Neves.
Until now, Fati wasn’t in favour of joining Wolves, but the ‘pressure’ on him, likely to accept a move to the Molineux, would be ‘greater in the coming days’.
There’s a feeling of an optimism at Barca that Mendes could place Fati at an another club.
