In dire need of a new striker in the summer, West Ham United threw all their eggs in the Gianluca Scamacca basket, paying Sassuolo upwards of €35m for the Italian.
It hasn’t quite worked out as hoped, with David Moyes taking his time in introducing the player to the squad fully, which has impacted his output.
He has scored a number of goals, but they haven’t quite match the expectations set by the money West Ham spent on him.
Regardless, the player has been praised in Italy for taking a leap and leaving his home country for trying something new, which will have been helped by his now former agent Alessandro Lucci.
We say this because the representative’s agency, World Soccer Agency, posted a statement on Tuesday revealing they had ‘unilaterally terminated’ their contract with the West Ham striker, relayed by Gazzetta dello Sport.
That’s them cancelling their deal with the player and not the other way around, making it clear that Scamacca wanted to ‘continue together’ with them, but they ‘decided to terminate the collaboration’ because they felt ‘the personal and professional conditions that led to welcoming’ the striker to their company ‘were no longer present’.
The details aren’t there, but they do add ‘regretting the conclusion of the relationship’, but make it clear it was ‘inevitable’.
We’re sure a bit more will come out in the next few days, but it appears the West Ham forward is now without an agent, at least for the time being.
