Manchester City are reportedly looking to bring in a new right-back as João Cancelo’s performances in his debut season in England don’t seem to have convinced Pep Guardiola.

Barcelona’s Sergi Roberto has been reported as one of the targets for the Premier League club.

On August 24th, Mundo Deportivo said the 28-year-old has received offers from the Citizens and an unnamed club, and the La Liga side are willing to let him leave this summer.

Journalist Miguel Rico, writing on the back page of today’s edition of Mundo Deportivo, states there’s been a possibility of selling the Spain international to the Etihad club in recent months.

After the two sides first made contacts for Roberto, they decided to wait until they finished their Champions League matches in August.

The 2019/20 season was concluded last month, and since then, City and Barca have not held any further discussions with regards to the versatile player’s transfer.

In addition to this, Roberto doesn’t want to leave the Catalan club in the ongoing window.

Rico states the only news about the Spaniard is that Ronald Koeman is ‘delighted with what he is seeing from Sergi Roberto’.

So that’s that then.
