Of all the transfer rumours that were likely to surface this summer, Ademola Lookman to RB Leipzig was always going to be one.
The young winger is out of favour at Everton, with Marco Silva seemingly not interested in the England U21 international.
The player is keen to leave and Leipzig remain fond of him after his successful loan spell back in 2018. Indeed, they tried to get him last summer but couldn’t match Everton’s asking price.
So far there’s been little movement from the Germans, though, with Lookman also linked with a move to Turkey.
They say the Bundesliga side are looking to add the former loan star and are ‘ready’ to spend €22m to get him. However, they are unlikely to find willing sellers in Everton at that price.
The newspaper says the Blues want as much as €28m for Lookman, suggesting that any bid from Leipzig that’s lower than that will be swiftly rejected.
And it wouldn’t surprise anyone if that was the case. Everton have no need to accept a bid until it matches their valuation.
Lookman still has two years left on his current deal and in this market, €28m is not a ridiculous asking price for an English youngster. In fact, it’s reasonable given some of the prices being touted.
Until Leipzig meet that valuation, they’ll happily keep hold of Lookman and keep resisting lower bids.
