Barcelona’s financial issues are a frequent topic in the Spanish media, and as Mundo Deportivo features a fresh story on that subject, Leeds United get a mention.
The story recalls the many transfers for which the Camp Nou side haven’t fully paid yet, and one of them is Raphinha’s move from Elland Road.
In an analysis made by 2Playbook, it’s said that Barcelona owe Leeds €24m in the short term, plus a further €38m in the long term.
There are no details on the deadlines for those payments, although the official report which will be presented on October 21st may reveal more.
Barcelona bought Raphinha from Leeds in a €58m plus bonuses deal in the summer of 2022. The Brazilian had a slow start at the Catalan side, being targeted for heavy criticism in the first few weeks, but then ended up settling well at the club, where he now has 12 goals and 15 assists in 57 appearances.
At Leeds United, Raphinha spent two seasons following the €18.6m deal with Rennes. It was at Elland Road that he could show all his potential, with 17 goals and 12 assists in 67 games.
