For the past few weeks, the Spanish media have covered Everton’s interest in Villarreal’s Thierno Barry.

On Thursday, Villarreal manager Marcelino said he’s concerned about losing the 22-year-old this summer. At the weekend, Villarreal sporting director Fernando Roig said they’re open and ready to listen to proposals.

AS report the La Liga club are ‘on alert’ over the possibility of losing Barry to David Moyes’ side.

Villarreal could see both the striker and Sergi Cardona move elsewhere in this window. The report adds interested clubs are ‘willing to sit down and negotiate or pay their release clauses’.

Everton are the only club named as being in the mix for Barry.

AS report that despite being aware of interest, the Spanish club haven’t sat down for negotiations or received an offer from Everton so far.

Barry has a €40m clause and it’s likely Everton will work to bring that figure down. Villarreal will obviously push for as high as they can get, so when negotiations do really get going it may drag on a little longer.
