At the weekend, Sporting manager Ruben Amorim was once again reported as one of the options that Liverpool have to replace Jürgen Klopp in the summer.
This time, it wasn’t only claimed that the Reds will be interviewing the coach, but also that the Lions are considering Bayern Munich’s Anthony Barry to replace him there.
Now several newspapers in the Portuguese media come up to talk about that subject, and A Bola is the one with the most complete story.
The outlet makes it clear that Sporting are in no panic about Liverpool’s interest in Amorim, despite the ‘redoubled insistence’ from the English media lately.
It’s said the coach is well protected with a contract until 2026 and a €20m release clause, so the Lions have ‘some security’ about the situation.
Meanwhile, newspapers Record and O Jogo come up to dismiss the other part of the weekend’s claims. They both spoke to official sources from Sporting who denied that the club are interested in Barry.
Those same sources did not dismiss Liverpool’s chase for Amorim, though, so he continues to look like a real option for the Reds.
