Nottingham Forest and West Ham United target Carlos Miguel has already told his club Corinthians that he’s moving.
That’s said by Globo Esporte, who report that the player has dismissed any chances of staying at the Brazilian side.
It’s claimed that following the offers from Nottingham Forest and West Ham, Corinthians tried to convince him to reject them with a new contract and signing bonuses.
The problem is that the goalkeeper is unhappy with the club, as they’ve been having huge administration problems, and already communicated his decision for a departure.
The same information is shared by UOL journalist Bruno Andrade. He claims the goalkeeper told the club about his decision on Friday morning, but due to his good relationship with the manager, he’ll continue playing for them until the end of June.
Andrade adds that Carlos Miguel had a verbal agreement with Nottingham Forest, but West Ham came strong in the battle. Since both clubs want to trigger his €4m release clause, it’s just him who’ll chose the destination.
After all those stories came out, we now get to see Corinthians legend Marcelinho Carioca appearing with opposite claims.
He says Carlos Miguel is happy at Corinthians and signing a five-year extension, only leaving for Europe next year. We must say that among all sources who’ve been reporting the situation, he’s probably the least reliable, so we better wait and see if better sources back him up.
Meanwhile, the player himself is the subject of endless abuse on social media from Corinthians fans.
Update: As another example of how bizarre this transfer drama is… Marcelinho has since deleted his Instagram post which carried his claims.
