Chelsea are once again said to be part of the ‘war’ to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund this summer, according to a Saturday report from Sport.

The Norwegian international has been getting a huge amount of attention recently, with the Catalan media believing Barcelona have a chance of getting him.

Joan Laporta winning the club’s presidential elections has seen a new found optimism around the Camp Nou, and whilst their difficult finances cannot be ignored, there’s a fresh hope that a big signing is possible.

Chelsea spent big during the last summer window, and the European media expect the Blues to go for it again in the coming market.

Thomas Tuchel settling in well is thought to have excited Roman Abramovich enough to believe a move for Haaland should be attempted.

Once again it’s stated Timo Werner could be used, with Chelsea sending their own player plus ‘a significant sum’ to Borussia Dortmund.

This is said to be ‘Abramovich’s formula’.

Werner hasn’t had the impact many expected following his move to Stamford Bridge from RB Leipzig, but an exit so quick would surprise many.

Should Chelsea even be considering it then they’d need to find out what Werner and BVB think about the prospect.
