In their Tuesday newspaper (see attached image), Spanish newspaper Sport once again linked James Rodriguez strongly with a move to the Premier League.
Once again, Chelsea were mentioned as one of the likeliest, and probably the likeliest, destination for the Colombian.
James’ time at Real Madrid has gone sour. As Gareth Bale takes increasing strides forward, having made himself into something of a super physical footballer, his South American teammate sees his career go backwards and his professionalism challenged.
Sport said that Roman Abramovich and Chelsea could easily cover the purchase, but they weren’t willing to capitulate to the demands of Madrid president Florentino Perez.
By Wednesday that’s changed somewhat, and Sport report online that Abramovich would be expected by many, and we assume themselves, to come to the rescue of James. Of course the fact Jorge Mendes is James’ agent is mentioned, with the agent having lots of dealings with Chelsea over recent years.
This story is bound to drag on until the end of the transfer window, but James isn’t quite as attractive an option as he was a couple of years ago.
