Eintracht Frankfurt defender Robin Koch has praised Tottenham following their draw on Thursday, insisting that Ange Postecoglou’s side have “a lot of quality”.
SG 4 Ever cover comments from the centre-back today after the two sides drew 1-1 in the Europa League yesterday.
It proved to be a difficult evening for the German side, who went ahead in the game through Hugo Ekitike in the sixth minute.
Pedro Porro equalised in the 26th minute for Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou’s side should have went on to win from there as they dominated in the stats.
The home side managed ten shots to four and six shots on target to two, with one period seeing them dominating proceedings and creating several chances that they ultimately never converted.
Whether they come to regret that remains to be seen as they face a difficult task to beat Frankfurt at home, with the German side having been strong on their own patch this season.
Tottenham will certainly need their forwards to be sharper than they were on Thursday evening, and Koch was full of praise for performance after the game.
“A difficult game. I said so before the game, and that’s exactly what it was,” he said.
“Tottenham has a lot of quality, especially going forward. In the second half, we were too passive; we could have done a bit more going forward, regained more control of the game, like we did in the first half.
“It’s clear that you get pushed back at times. We can apply more pressure in the second half, but the result is still okay. We still had one or two chances in the second half, Tottenham also had chances, but it’s okay.”
“During that sequence of play, we took a short breather, but then it’s important not to let yourself be thrown off the game, to keep going, to keep defending, and that’s what we did. That’s why we deserved the draw,” he added on Tottenham’s ‘period of pressure’.
