As Laurent Blanc to Chelsea gathers more and more pace in France, Le10 Sport explain on Wednesday the situation has reached this point after a very long process.

The French website report the plan to find the right man to replace Antonio Conte this summer started early in 2018, with many names studied, such as Leonardo Jardim, Paulo Fonseca and, of course, the aforementioned former Paris Saint-Germain manager.

Riding the wave, Le10 Sport also weigh in on the Blanc situation, saying he’s in a ‘very good position’ to get the job, and he’s seen off a number of other candidates to be in this position.

According to them, Marina Ganovskaia, who appears to be the one spearheading the process, has held ‘concrete discussions with at least 20 managers’.

A lot of those are said to have met in person with Roman Abramovich’s confidant, including Blanc, as was first reported by France Football last week.

If this is true, then one of two things has happened: Chelsea are being extremely picky, or most managers weren’t interested in the job.

Our guess is the former, but looking at the club’s situation off the pitch, perhaps the latter might have been a reason for a few of the candidates.
