The Aymen Abdennour to Everton transfer rumour has been rapid over the past day. Claims of interest were reported all over the Valencia media, and the story grew throughout the day.

Valencia are keen to sell Abdennour, having bought him from AS Monaco last summer. The Spanish club failed to qualify for the Champions League, and so need to make money, and Abdennour has been identified as one of the players they’d like to sell.

On Friday afternoon, claims came from Valencia that owner Peter Lim was flying from Barcelona, where he’d been in other talks, to London. There he’d speak to Arsenal about Mustafi, but also to Everton.

On Saturday Deporte Valenciano follow things up, and they say Valencia are looking to recoup their €21.8m outlay from last year, but crucially it’s also pointed out a deal could be done for close to €20m.

Valencia are being flexible on price, and that can only be positive for Everton.
