Aston Villa are still after expensive talent, according to Il Mattino.
The Naples based newspaper focus on their local team’s transfer window so far, which has been pretty decent all in all, and they look at one potential extra arrival in Amadou Diawara.
The young defensive midfielder, who currently plays for Bologna in Serie A, has attracted a lot of interest from bigger clubs in the league, and apparently from Aston Villa.
Roma and Napoli are both keen on the 19-year-old, with the former of the two already making a €15m bid for the talent, while the Midlands club are prepared to spend a bit more to attract Diawara to Villa Park.
According to Il Mattino, Xia Jiantong and co. are prepared to splash an impressive €17m on the defensive midfielder, and while Bologna might greet such a bid with open arms, they might face resistance from the player.
This follows up similar claims from Italy earlier this week.
Diawara is said to have a preference for remaining in Italy, a country he moved to in 2015, and Napoli should be considered the favourites to sign him.
This, of course, is coming from a Naples based newspaper, meaning they’ll always root for their local team, but if Aston Villa are prepared to throw real money at the youngster, we all know how quickly minds can change.
